Cutting

The first step in making a pouch is cutting the leather. We use a template to create a pattern on the leather and carefully cut the leather to size. We use high-quality chrome-tanned leather infused with oils making the leather ideal for outdoor use. Our artisans ensure that the leather is cut precisely and that any imperfections are removed. To minimize waste, we strategically cut the leather to make the most efficient use of the material and to create as little scrap as possible.

Sewing

After the leather has been cut to size, the next step is sewing. We use industrial sewing machines to stitch the pouch pieces together. Our artisans take care to ensure that the stitching is even and precise and that the edges are finished off neatly. We also use high-quality thread that complements the color and texture of the leather, ensuring that the stitching is not only functional but also adds to the overall aesthetic of the pouch.

Riveting And Turning

Once the pieces of leather have been stitched together, the next step is to add the hardware. We use high-quality metal rivets at the end of the stitches to keep them from coming apart. Our artisans ensure that the hardware is securely fastened and complements the pouch's design.

After the hardware is attached, the pouch is turned right side out. This is the most difficult part of the process requiring precision and care, as the leather needs to be turned without damaging the stitching or the leather itself (that's why we wear gloves). If a rivet breaks during the Turning process, the pouch is no longer salvageable. Our artisans ensure that the pouch is turned neatly and that any imperfections are corrected.

Lace And Antler

The final step in making a pouch is to add the closure consisting of a strip of leather lace that loops around a genuine deer antler toggle button. Our artisans take care to ensure that these additions are precisely placed and that they complement the overall design of the pouch.

When adding lace and antler closures to our pouches, our artisans take great care to ensure that these materials are ethically sourced and of the highest quality. Antlers are sourced from one of our partners and the lace is cut from the same leather as the pouches. These final touches are not only functional, but they enhance the beauty of the pouch, making it a unique and special piece that you will cherish for years to come.
